Albert Ebbs beloved husband of Ida (Boland) Ebbs passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the age of 82 years, surrounded by love with his family by his side.
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a wonderful man, our beloved dad, granddad and husband. He will be remembered and loved by his wife of fifty seven years, Ida; sons Paul (Glenna), Barry (Ele), Doug (Debbi); daughter Anna-Marie (Warren) Saunders, grandchildren; Matthew, Emily,Jack, Brock and Ava-Marie.
Albert was born in Dublin, Ireland on April 13, 1928. His trade in Ireland was rewinding starters and alternators. He married Ida in Dublin on November 21, 1953. In 1954 they immigrated to Calgary, AB. There Albert continued his trade until 1955 when he started with the Calgary School Board and continued until 1960. From 1960 to 1963 Albert was a partner in a small appliance business. In 1964 he started his own business as an owner operator of several Laundromat’s throughout Alberta. In 1971 Albert went in a different direction and started importing bicycles from England. In 1972 Albert opened his first of many bike shops in Calgary and continued to operate City Cycle on 11th Street until he retired from the bike business. One of his greatest adventures was when he went abroad to Ireland in 1998 to witness the first leg of the Tour de France on Irish soil. Albert’s greatest joy was his family and dogs.
