EASTVELD, Mark Gerard

October 18, 1931 – April 2, 2013

Mark Eastveld, our beloved Mark, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the age of 81 years.

Mark was very caring and loving and taught us all more than one man should know. Time with family always put a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye, and he loved to sing and dance and enjoy all that Mother Nature had to offer. He was also a deeply faithful child of God.

Mark is survived by a very large, loving family. Being one of eighteen children himself, and seven children of his own, his surviving family is far too large to mention, but he was the core and we love him deeply.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Black Diamond Oilfields General Hospital Palliative Care Project (717 Government Rd, Black Diamond AB, T0L 0H0, telephone: 403-933-2222).

‘And though we cannot see him here, we will learn to feel him near’

In living memory of Mark Eastveld, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

We will all miss Mark but our thoughts will continue to keep him in our hearts. He was a great guy and fun to have at a Karaoke. We were really close when we were kids, and I will always love him. I can feel your family’s loss, and remember that we love you all.

Uncle Mark was very dear to me and my family. As a child I visited him and his family in Charleswood and they visited us at 560 Kylemore. My Dad was his oldest brother, Bill, and they used to do woodworking projects together. I enjoyed visiting in Alberta when he moved to the acreage by Spruce Meadows. I can still see their home in Charleswood in my memory, and remember the barbecues with other family, like Uncle Paul, the youngest brother. Good times, laughter, animals and joy of family ties. He will be missed.

Although it has been a very long time since I last saw Uncle Mark in Winnipeg, I remember him as clearly as if it were yesterday. His warmth, intelligence and good humor made him unforgettable. We used to visit when Mark & family lived on Coventry; and he also helped my dad, Bill, his eldest brother, to dig out a basement for the addition on the back of our house at 560. My deep sorrow at your loss of this wonderful man. Barb, and husband, Ian.

    TO OUR DAD & GRANDDAD

We did not want you to leave us,
God knows you struggled to stay.
Though your soul has gone to Heaven,
You are in our hearts to stay.

A better Dad you could never be,
    You already are the Best.
Toiled and struggled and gave us your all,
now relax and enjoy eternal rest.

We wrapped you in two angels
to warm you as you wait,
wrote words from deep within our hearts
to whisper you to Heaven’s Gate.

Your address has changed to Heaven,
your phone number now an open line.
We’ll be calling you for strength and love
And our connection won’t cost a dime!

That’s the great thing about Heaven,
we will meet you there one day.
Ask God to help us through our grief,
we’ll need much help along the way.

    We can’t say goodbye Dad,
    simply “Until we meet again”
We hold you deep within our hearts
    our DAD and dearest friend.

These feelings are from all of us,
so Honored to call you DAD!
    Our children and their children
are so proud of their Grand Dad!

So as a family we all blow kisses
and send you on your way.
With heavy hearts and so much love
we will one day be up your way.

We’ll now live our lives through pictures
and memories of what we had.
We’ll think of you always, Love you forever…
You are ours, Godspeed Our Dear Dad.
