DUMVILLE, Trevor Dale

July 25, 1939 – Rocanville/Welwyn, Saskatchewan November 11, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta

Trevor Dumville, beloved husband of Elaine Dumville (nee Brown) of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the age of 75 years, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Trevor was born July 25, 1939 on his family’s farm located between Rocanville and Welwyn, SK. He was the youngest of five children to Charlie and Elsie Dumville. Trevor attended Cambridge school which was located on his grandfather Joseph’s farm.

Trevor met Elaine Brown in the café in Tantallon in 1955 – it was love at first sight. They married on February 20, 1960 in Tantallon, Saskatchewan.

Trevor had been involved in the car business for most of his life. His great passion was for antique autos especially Fords, but did on occasion buy a competitors vehicle because he just couldn’t resist. After retiring Trevor loved spending time with his family and restoring and showing his antique cars. Trevor and Elaine met many of their closest friends at various car club functions, shows and swap meets. Trevor always had a keen interest in preserving family history and artifacts. His father’s original farm which was homesteaded 120 years ago is still in the Dumville name today. When the Cambridge school moved to Moosomin museum it was important to Trevor to acknowledge the history of the Cambridge school so he had a plaque mounted at the original site.

Trevor’s brother Gordon was a flying officer in the RCAF in England. He died in action during WW II. Remembrance Day has always been an important day and one that he always observed by attending ceremonies and speaking with Gordon’s pilot, Captain Redge Harrison.

As well as the love of his life of 54 years Elaine, Trevor will be dearly missed by his children, Gordon (Carolyn), Brenda (Perry), and Debbie (Trevor); and his grandchildren, Dylan, Christina, Kyle, Megan, Alexandra, Lauren and Soren. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, George Holloway, Val Pestyk, Leonard Olafson, and Larry Brown; sister-in-law Marg Dumville; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Trevor was predeceased by his parents Charles and Elsie Dumville; his brothers, Gordon and Kenneth; and sisters, Helena and Catharine (Kay).

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorials may be made in Trevor’s name to Prostate Cancer Canada, 2 Lombard St, 3rd Floor, Toronto, ON M5C 1M1, Telephone: 1-888-255-0333, www.prostatecancer.ca.

In living memory of Trevor Dumville, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.

  31. I met Mr. Dumville at a car show. He agreed to let me write some stories about a number of his vehicles. Over the years we did quite a few articles. He was very generous with his time and an absolute fountain of information. I never had a conversation with him where I didn’t learn something and I enjoyed every contact I ever had with him.

In the summer of 2013 he had me over to his house so we could do the interviews about two of his cars. Afterwards, he gave me a tour of his collection. What a pleasure that was! I will miss bumping into him at shows, his good humour and his enthusiasm.

I offer my sincerest condolences to his family.
