November 11, 1964 – September 21, 2012
On September 21, 2012, in the arms of his wife Dianne and with his family surrounding him in presence and in spirit, Mike Duffy passed away peacefully at the age of 47 years.
Mike started his life in Ontario, and moved to Calgary over twenty years ago to pursue his love of creating more beautiful spaces for others to enjoy. When he was younger, he loved fishing and boating on the lakes of Ontario with his girlfriend and partner Dianne, who twenty years later joined him in the West to explore the beauty of Alberta, as his wife.
He is cherished and missed by so many that he touched across the miles; his parents Marjorie and Bruce Snowden; brothers, Howard (Kim) Snowden, Bruce (Micki) Snowden and Frank Duffy; sisters, Beth McQuade and Donna Duffy; sisters-in-law, Barb (Chris) Cox and Lori Ferron, who were so close to him throughout his life. His love was felt by his many aunts and uncles, including his Uncle Ted and Aunt Alice, cousins, nieces and nephews, and he enjoyed and fondly remembered his times with Melissa, Michael, Andrew, Lindsay and Bruce, and his Hospital and Home artist, Terry Fox runner, and little Princess, Emma. He will be sadly missed by his four-legged friends, Rexy and Ninja.
Mike’s journey was a much longer one than any of us had expected, and he was able to enjoy so much more of life because of the love and caring he felt from his family, his friends, and his medical caregivers. He was able to re-connect, enjoy time with, marry, and spend years of love and laughter with “his Dianne”. He underwent daunting clinical trial treatments selflessly and with the hope that others who follow in his path could benefit. His strength, courage, sense of humour and respect for others are lessons we will all carry with us. Now, his circle of life is complete, and he is at peace with his spirit forever in our hearts.
A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held at a later date when family and friends are able to join us in Calgary. For those who wish to learn more, please e-mail email@example.com.
