DUCK CHIEF, Lorna “Cindy” Kimah-tsa-pii-aki Poor White Woman

January 23, 1949 – March 10, 2013

Lorna Duck Chief, beloved wife of Richard (Dicky) Duck Chief of Siksika Nation was called home by our Creator on Sunday, March 10, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with lupus at the age of 64 years. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Lorna attended Crowfoot School and graduated from Old Sun Community College, completing a pottery certificate in 1988. She worked as a custodian at Crowfoot School then at Siksika Health Center for six years. She then worked at the Siksika Police Service for four years. Lorna was very proud of the crafts that she created and donated to many Cursillos. She will also be remembered for her love of plants and animals.

Besides her loving husband Richard, Lorna is survived by her sons, Kevin, Ricky, Lonnie (Lynn), Dory (Terri), Ashley (Janice), Lorne (Andrea), Garrett (Jocelyn); daughter Dakota (Tim); Mother Emma Redgun; brothers Lawrence (Joan), Melvin (Geraldine), Dexter (Rosalie), Elroy (Donna), Errol (Marcella); sisters Patsy and Tina; and by twenty-two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father Christie Redgun, paternal grandparents Harry Sr. and Rosaria Redgun.

A Wake will be held at Sister Celine Parish Hall (Siksika Nation, AB) on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Crowfoot Cemetery. The Family would like to thank the nursing staff of Sagewood Homes in Strathmore, Alberta, as well as the acute care staff at Strathmore Hospital.
