It is with profound sadness that the family of Wilf Dubber of Calgary announces his passing at the Foothills Medical Centre, surrounded by family on Thursday March 10, 2005 at the age of 84 years.
Wilf was born on December 14, 1920 in Calgary, AB. He served his country in World War II and was employed as an Electronics Technician until his retirement. He had a post-retirement “career” in computers becoming the expert of the day to many friends and family members. He also loved to work on cars, stereos, radios, and various appliances. If Wilf couldn’t fix it – it couldn’t be fixed! Wilf had a keen and sharp mind and loved to discuss (and debate) a variety of issues and topics. Wilf was extremely kind-hearted to family, friends, and even strangers. He volunteered many hours to the Epilepsy Association of Calgary, fixing computers. In 1983 Wilf married his beloved Vilma – the light of his life. They enjoyed many road trips together, their time with family, friends, their pussycats, and working together in their business, -Select Office Services. Vilma’s passing in 2003 left an enormous void in Wilf’s life. Wilf had a long illness, but never failed to thank family and friends for their visits, “Thank you for coming” became a familiar farewell and expressed Wilf’s deep appreciation to those who supported him.
We give you over to the warm embrace of Vilma and those who went before you; may your spirit light the way for those who follow.
Your sense of humour, your gentle laughter, your wisdom, and your many kindnesses will be missed by those who knew and loved you.
Thanks for being our friend, thanks for being our companion, and thanks for loving all of us the way you did.
Wilf is survived by his stepchildren, Sharon Moore (David Swartzenberger), Kathy Fyfe (Derek), James Moore, and Barry Moore; two brothers, Vic (Edy) and Fred, his nieces and nephews, Ross, Tim, Terry, Beverley, Shirley, and Dennis; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Wilf was predeceased by his beloved wife, Vilma, his parents, Mary Ann Turner and Daniel Dubber, and a brother Ernie.
