Condolence Messages

  1. Shaun Redmond :

I was truly very sad to hear of Mr. Doerksen’s passing. I haven’t seen him since Bible school, which has been almost 20 years but thought of him often. You always remember who touched your life very deeply. I remember going to his house and having broiled cheese buns with tomatoes made by Mrs. Doerksen and playing pool in his basement. I’m pleased to know that he his in Heaven and seeing for the first time what color God actually is.

  2. Dear Agnes and Family,
I am so sad to hear of Ben’s passing. I was a student of his at BBI. I will never forget memorizing verses for his Knowing God and Knowing Man classes. I enjoyed his classes, he made learning theology interesting.
Keeping you in my thoughts as prayers as you walk through this time of sorrow. Rest in the hope that you’ll see him again one day. Sincerely, Phyllis Baynes

  3. Rhonda Janzen :

    Mrs. Doerksen,
We were so saddened to hear of your loss, but we know that your husband, Ben, is with God, and is now made whole.

We loved having Mr. Doerksen as our teacher while we were students at Bethany Bible Institute. He was patient with me (I wasn’t the best student), a great story teller (I still remember some of his stories very well), and made class fun for me. He used his gifts and talents well – you must be proud.

It was wonderful to be able to attend Highland Church with you both a little while back, and even though he was no longer our teacher, I still couldn’t bring myself to call him “Ben”, as I highly respected him.

Know that we will be praying for you – for peace, comfort, and strength.

    Your friends,
    Peter and Rhonda Janzen
    (Calgary)

Uncle Ben (as we called him at Bethany) was a great teacher. He modeled integrity, honesty and had a fun-loving spirit. He challenged us to think outside the box. I will always remember him fondly and was blessed to have known him. Praying for you in your time of grief.

So sad to hear of Dr. Doerksen’s passing. Both Chris & I say he was our favorite BBI instructor. As freshmen we almost feared him but grew to love and respect everything about him!

  10. It was twenty years ago that I first met Ben Doerksen. We didn’t always see eye to eye on everything but I admired him so much that I requested him as my FA as an RA. Ben always had a sparkel in his eye and a smile on his face, thanks to all of his family for sharing him with bethany for all those years.

My thoughts and prayers to the entire family in this time of mourning.
Mr Doerksen left many other “children” in his students for whom he opened up the Bible so thoughtfully. Those who were taught by him are some of the fruit of his spirit led life.
