DOENZ, Pauline (Polly) E. (nee Pavan)

In Memorial

May 9, 1927 – January 8, 2012

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother Polly on Sunday, January 8, 2012 after a brief illness.

Polly was born and raised in Lethbridge, AB and lived most of her adult life in Calgary. She leaves behind her six children, Marilyn (Ron) Moore of Vancouver, BC, Loma (Frank) Gibbs of Edmonton, AB, Myles (Gay Buchanan) Doenz of Kamloops, BC, Warren (Roseanne) Doenz of Calgary, Valerie (Dave) Nevin of Milton, ON, and Roxanne Doenz (Bob Williams) of Calgary. She will be lovingly remembered by all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of forty-two years Lloyd in October 1989.

At Polly’s request there will be no funeral service and the family will have a small private gathering to celebrate her life. Due to our mother’s fond memories of her work at a local elementary school lunchroom, we request that in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes be made directly to Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids, Suite 315, 223 – 12 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2R 0G9. www.brownbaggingit.org Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Polly Doenz, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: (403) 241-0044.

Like a second mother to me, back in the 60′s. Oh, the memories come flooding back. Saturday mornings watching Stampede wrestling with Warren and Myles. The boys learning the new holds and out comes the belt. Hockey game day, Polly up in the stands having a smoke and cheering us on as we destroyed our opponents.
We’ll miss you Mom, travel well.
