DODDS, Michael “Mike” Calder

January 19, 1944- Redvers SK
August 4, 2013 – Priddis, AB

Michael “Mike” Calder Dodds, cherished father of Richard and Robert, and grandfather to Zachary and Ryan, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the age of 69 years. Mike was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend of forty-five years, Fran Dodds, on December 12, 2012.

Mike was born in Redvers, SK and came to Calgary as a teenager, where he attended Western Canada High School. Mike retired after a very successful career as an accountant in the oil and gas industry. He began his accounting career with Hudson’s Bay and Oil Accounting, then worked for a number of oil and gas companies before finishing his career at Gas and Oil Accounting. Mike filled his time being an active member in the Skyline Senior’s Group and the Antique Willy’s Association. He also enjoyed travelling with friends and family, hiking, and snowshoeing. One of his favorite activities was hanging out with his two beloved grandsons-they were the apple of his eye. One of Mike’s life long hobbies was cars, highlighted by his new red, convertible Mustang he just purchased.

Aside from his beloved sons and grandsons, Mike is survived by two brothers John (Brenda) and Jim; two sisters Mary (Barry) Fetherston and Valerie (Rick) Kozmanuik; brother-in-law Bill Jones; sister-in-law Darlene Dodds and brother and sister-in-law Stu (Donna) Geekie. Mike was predeceased by his parents Gib and Anne; sister Bonnie Jones; and brother Don.
