Condolence Messages

  1. I was very fortunate to have Ms. Dodds-Belanger as my teacher for two years at Highwood Elementary School. Her creativity and energy in the classroom transformed potentially dull lessons into fun collaborative experiences. I particularly remember her helping us to build a floor to ceiling model of Mount Olympus for our Greek mythology unit, and showing us “hands on” how to make rose hip tea as a wilderness survival skill at Camp Horizon. After much further education over the subsequent decades, I can look back and say with certainty and gratitude that she was the best teacher I ever had.

  2. DB was Les Gigueurs at Westgate School….taught the steps, encouraged the design and sewing of costumes, created the annual tourtiere bake and sale and arranged performances all over Calgary and at Expo 86. Youngsters and oldsters greatly benefited by her enthusiasm and knowledge over many years.

  3. Art Vesterdal :

If I’m correct, I was in her class in my grade for year… And that would’ve been somewhere around 1974. She was a fantastic teacher and I will always remember her fondly. I don’t remember many teachers but I remember her and she was one of the first ones to shorten my name from Arthur to Art. My hat is off in warm regard for her. I always knew her life presented many challenges… Though I knew no details and I never asked. But as I share my admiration for her, with you her family I also share my condolences.

  4. Louise manelia :

I wish I had looked for Marguerite sooner. She was my dance instructor and mentor at Illinois State Normal University and encouraged me to teach at EWSC which finally led me here to Canada where I remain to this day. She was creative, sincere, honest and a superb teacher who introduced me to Reed College in Portland where I developed a deep interest in folk dance. I truly wish I had found her whereabouts sooner.
