DOBSON, Lionel Eldon

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lionel Eldon Dobson, beloved husband of Helen Dobson, of Calgary, AB on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the age of 86 years.

Lionel was born in 1928 in the town of Olds, Alberta. After his marriage to Helen Arndt in 1949, they relocated to Swift Current, Saskatchewan, where he worked for Revelstoke Building Materials. In 1959, they moved to Calgary where Lionel continued to work for Revelstoke until 1988. Lionel enjoyed spending time in “the great outdoors” and traveling to Arizona to visit his son, David, as well as Oakville to visit his daughter Debra and her family.

Lionel is survived by his loving wife Helen; his daughter Debra (Rob); son David; and grandsons, Stewart (Lisa), Christopher and Timothy. He also leaves behind his brother Ed (Barb) and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Lionel was predeceased by three sisters.

A Celebration of Lionel’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.     Dear Helen,
    It was with great sadness that I read of Lionel’s passing. Craig thought so highly of Lionel – he always referred to him as “Dad” whenever he talked about him – which was often. I’ll never forget the stories of the two of them at the Super Bowl in San Francisco – they had so much fun. I hope they meet up again. My heart goes out to you and your family. You are in my thoughts.
