  2. Dear Heather and Melissa,

Such sad news. I had called Peter’s office a couple of month’s ago, and message said call back after MArch, so I assumed you were off travelling. Also, I had lunch a couple of weeks ago with Marjorie Leslie and Pam Lulman.. who were also trying to make contact. We had many happy memories of Peter, Jim and Phil.

Our memory of Peter will be the coffee he had with Ted and me while he was “commuting” to the Foothills.. as always full of optimism and assurance.

Heather, you and Peter have created a “wonderful journey” and you have inspired so many. Melissa, I hope you and the family are well.

To all of you, our thoughts during the sadness which is unavoidable. Ted and I cannot be at the funeral, as we are leaving on a trip tonight… very much following Peter’s philosophy of living well and loving ones family.

    June Kilcolm and Ted Cripps.

  6. George Greene, Chair, Stratos Inc. :

We are deeply saddened by Peter’s death.

Peter was planning to be with us this week at Stratos in Ottawa to share his wisdom on how the cause of fighting climate change can be advanced. This is the type of advice he offered freely to any of his professional friends and colleagues who cared to ask. He shared widely his deep understanding of what sustainability means in business. He was a Canadian pioneer on sustainable development in industry, beginning with his work at Shell Canada in the 1990s, work which he carried through to his last days.

We were fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with him, along with many others who shared Peter’s deep commitment to advancing his belief that the energy industries can truly operate in a sustainable manner through significant improvements in performance and major investment in the technological step changes needed.

We are honored to have worked with Peter, and to have learned from his optimism and his ability to balance what matters in a professional life – family and fun, volunteer commitment, and fulfilling work.

  7. I met Peter only a few years ago, after his initial success in battling cancer. I worked with him on some stakeholder-related issues for oil sands; specifically on the climate change file. I admired his ability to be a calming influence, and his capacity to listen and absorb opinions from a wide range of parties. I hope some of that skill rubbed off on me!

I am sorry that he has passed; please accept my condolences.
