September 24, 1932 – Fossacesia, Chieti, Italy
April 11, 2014 – Calgary, AB
It is with honour that we hand our loving father, Pierino DiCiano, over to the open arms of God.
Pierino was born in Fossacesia, Chieti and immigrated to Canada in February of 1956. Pierino worked for the City of Calgary Engineering Division for 33 years. He had a zest for life and was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to bicycle and camp in the great outdoors and caught many impressive fish. He was skilled at everything he did such as soccer, swimming, never lost at foosball and could run like the wind. He was an avid member of the Italian Club and President of the Bocce committee. He won many trophies playing Bocce and loved dancing at all the functions. He spent a lot of time in his garden and even made award-winning wine.
Pierino was known for his heart of gold, compassion, loyalty but above all will be remembered for his humor. He loved making people laugh and left a lasting smile on everyone he met. His passion was his grandchildren whom he adored and spent every minute he could with, passing on many of his humorous traits.
He was predeceased by his brother Antonio DiCiano and sister Agnese Martelli. He is survived by his wife Anna Maria, his loving son and daughter Luigi and Antonella, but most importantly, his cherished grandchildren Dominique and Nico Barbario.
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of his life on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 7:30 at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North).
