DIAMOND, Rene Albert

October 22, 1926 – August 3, 2012

Rene was born on October 22, 1926 in Bellevue, Alberta. He became a mining engineer and spent much of his career with Burnco in Calgary.

He is predeceased by his wife of fifty-five years, Carol, his parents and his sister, Louise. Condolence Messages

  1. Virginia McKendry :

I have been so sad to hear of Rennie’s passing, but thinking about him and his impact in my life and that of my own family fills me with joy and admiration for a life well lived. He as always been a mentor and friend of our family, and I will never forget his asking me to dance at my parents’ wedding (I was only six years old, so I had to stand on his shoes). Although he could have easily ignored me, he treated me with great attentiveness and respect, and I felt so proud to be treated like a grown-up by someone I so respected. I have no doubt that Rennie will be remembered for treating everyone he met in this way. His curiosity and intelligence meant that he was genuinely interested in people of all ages, all backgrounds and from all walks of life and was never one to judge. I know he touched many lives in a positive and transformative way, just being the decent and caring man he was. My deepest condolences to his children and grandchildren on their loss. I am thinking of all you as you navigate your way through this difficult time.

  4. Garfield Anderson :

Dear Beth, Anne, Mary, and Claire

Please accept my sincere condolences at this time of sorry with the passing of your father, Rene. I’m still in a state of shock and find it difficult to believe that he is actually gone. I find myself expecting to hear the phone ring and seem to be thinking about him constantly. We’ve known each other a good many years and helped to prop one another up during our period of grief when both Carol and Jo died.

I shall miss Rene terribly. He was a source of great comfort to me and helped me in so many ways through approximately 35 years. He not only helped me but countless others.

Please take comfort in the knowledge that he did so much good for so many people.

I had the great pleasure and honor of knowing Rene for many years through my mother (Dorothy). He was one of the most generous, wise, and kind people I have ever had the privilege of spending time with and my mother, son and I will miss him very much. In the last few months he had offered his support and guidance in a way no one else could have and for that I will be forever grateful. He will always hold a very special place in our families hearts.
