Pasqualino (Pat) Di Maria, beloved husband of Antonietta Di Maria of Calgary, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the age of 70 years.
Pasqualino was born in Santa Croce del Sannio, Benevento, Italy. His early years were spent on the farm working alongside his family. His desire for a better life brought him and his young family to Canada in 1967, where they settled in Calgary. Employment lured him to the construction industry as a cribber, then to a supervisor position in the housing industry and finally to a cabinet maker until he retired. Pasqualino loved the outdoors and enjoyed his years of retirement tending to his garden, as well as spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was very passionate about gardening, especially when it came to his greatest pride, growing his apple trees.
Besides his loving wife, Antonietta, of forty-eight years, Pasqualino is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law Santina Di Maria and Mike Smith, Rina Di Maria and Ron Aalbers, Anna and André du Plessis; grandchildren, Justina Matic, Adriana Matic, Brandon Aalbers, Mitchell Aalbers, Joshua du Plessis, Elijah du Plessis and Carina du Plessis. Pasqualino is also survived by his brother Eligio Di Maria and sister Addolorata Di Maria as well as numerous nieces and nephews with whom he always enjoyed sharing his stories of the past with. Pasqualino was predeceased by his father Antonio Di Maria, mother Anna Di Maria and brother John Di Maria.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church (1100 Berkshire Boulevard N.W.) on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
