DEWAR, Bruce James

July 20, 1972 – Mississauga, ON
February 8, 2015 – Calgary, AB

Bruce Dewar passed away Sunday February 8, 2015.

Bruce lived his life everyday looking for new adventures and opportunities at AMEC Foster Wheeler. His past work experiences at Stantec and EBA brought on new ideas, clients, and friends to call part of his family. Even though Bruce has lived in Calgary for the past 20 years he grew up in Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and graduated from University in Halifax Nova Scotia. His recent accomplishment of becoming a Professional Biologist was cut short while he battled living with a brain tumor for the past sixteen months.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife Amber and two children Seth and Leila.

A Celebration of Bruce’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

  1. Dave MacPherson :

    Dear all,
I am so sorry for your loss. I was privileged to have spent time with Bruce (and Seth) while he and I volunteered for Calgary Rocky Mountain Little League. It was a pleasure to share baseball moments with him talking about our sons, their teammates or the pros. He was a good man and I know he will be missed

We are saddened to learn of Bruce Dewar’s passing. Though his life has been cut short very prematurely, he accomplished much in just over forty decades of life. May the pain and void felt by Amber, Seth, Leila, Ed and Brenda be tempered by the realization that their beloved husband, father and son is now in a better place, that the suffering has ended and he will be remembered always.

  16. Amber, I’m so very sorry for your loss. Bruce fought a hard battle and always had a positive attitude any time I visited him in the Hospital. In a world where the are words as terrible as Cancer it was refreshing to know Bruce and listen to his take on life. We enjoyed many laughs and I know you have a wealth of memories from your years together, and may they help you get through this very trying time in your life. Someday when you have had time to process all that has happened, I know there are many open arms here at Stantec that who would love to see you for a visit. Ken Duncan
