DEVER, Eleanor Mary

January 18, 2014 – Calgary, AB

Eleanor Dever, beloved wife of Ralph Dever of Calgary, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the age of 81years.

Eleanor was born on Saturday, November 12, 1932 on the family farm near Wawota, SK. As a young lady she moved to Longueuil, QC where she met Ralph. They married in 1954 and raised their family in St. Lambert, QC where they had many friends and family. Despite Eleanor’s early diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis, which she faced bravely, she continued to enjoy golfing, curling, playing cards and camping. In 1972, Eleanor and Ralph moved the family to Calgary, where she enjoyed watching her family grow and welcomed her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. In their retirement years, Eleanor and Ralph continued to enjoy camping and golfing, spending many winters in Weslaco, TX. Eleanor will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her laugh and her warm sense of humour.

Eleanor is missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 59 years, Ralph, her children Janice (Robert Strelow), Mike (Debora) and David (Laura Marik), grandchildren Daniel, Matthew and Geoffrey Strelow and Cassidy and Alexa Dever, and also her sisters Madge (Albert) Cantin, Nora Zelter, and Barb (Brian) Haynen and brothers Bob (Cathy) and Rick (Brenda) and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father Harvey Hancock, mother Alice Hancock, brothers Bill and Noel Hancock, and nephews David Cantin and John Haynen.

A Celebration of Eleanor’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the loving and compassionate care given to Eleanor by the care givers of the Larkspur Unit at Cedars Villa.
