Luz (Tota) Derflingher beloved wife of Hector (Toi) Palacios of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the age of 79 years.
Tota’s passion for blown glass came from her involvement in the family business (Feder’s). Her love and dedication to her grandchildren and her husband (Toi) was endless even during her long illness. She was proud to be able to move to Calgary in 2005 to be closer to family. Tota’s chocolate truffle’s were a family staple that everyone will miss and no one will equal both for their taste and amount of love she put into making them. Her traditional Mexican cooking will always be remembered.
Besides her loving husband of forty-four years, Tota is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gabriela and Mauricio Arrioja, Luz and Alberto Nettel and Laura Palacios; two grandchildren Renata and Jordi. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law Maria del Carmen and Eugenio Gomez and her extended family and in-laws. Tota was predeceased by her parents Maria de la Luz (Agüe) and Felipe Derflingher and her brother Felipe (Pipe) Derflingher.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
A Celebration of Tota’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
