DELL, P. Monte

July 7, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Monte passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the age of 54 years.

Monte graduated with a degree in networking from SAIT and worked for many years in the security industry with the last several years spent working for the company Contava. Monte had extensive knowledge in alarm systems, networking and electronics. He had a life long passion for cars, whether it was buying and working on cars, collecting die cast models, building models, watching racing or other car shows. He also loved NASCAR with his favourite driver being Dale Earnhardt Jr. after his first favourite, Dale Earnhardt Sr., died in a car crash during a race. He also had a keen interest in space and true crime stories and read extensively on both. Known for his incredible knowledge in electronics, most of what Monte knew, he taught himself. Monte was also blessed with a brilliant sense of humour and a sharp wit which provided family and friends alike with the gift of laughter. Having fallen in love with Jamaica while in his twenties, Monte took every opportunity to take trips there. He embraced the beauty of the island, the people and their culture. Intelligent, gentle, humorous, Monte made the world a better place.

Monte is survived by his siblings, Bradley Aman of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Tamara (Ken) Buck of Calgary, Alberta, Kerry Dell of Calgary, Alberta, Lana (Paul) Wright of Calgary, Alberta; extended family, Stacy (Matthew) Puttick of Airdrie, Alberta, Kelly Dumais of Calgary, Alberta, Kenneth (Rose) Buck of Toronto, Ontario, Heather Dell of Calgary, Alberta, Nick Wright of Calgary, Alberta, Samantha Wright of High River, Alberta, Liam Wright of Calgary Alberta; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his friend, Keith Dolphin and his pug dog, Ziggy. He was predeceased by his parents Dave and Jacquie Dell, his pug dogs, Pugsley and Twiggy.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through

The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at Agape Hospice for the unparalleled care they provided to Monte and support they provided to the family. They showed amazing compassion and respect for Monte as well as continuing to observe Monte’s dignity.

    This message is for Kerry Dell. I was a neighbour of Monte’s and Ziggy on Maidstone Dr. However I knew you as a very young boy from Albert Park. You played hockey with my son Peter Hayden. I reconnected with your Mom when she worked for shoppers drug mart on Memorial Dr. However I hope you remember us and condolences to all . Peter played hockey with some Aman boys when we lived in Medicine Hat briefly. We all live in Calgary now. My name now is Nancy Kearney.
