September 13, 2013 – Airdrie, AB
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Shannon Dechief on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the age of 49 years.
Shannon was greatly loved. She was brave, compassionate, competitive and endearing. Her interests were vast but she especially loved learning; teaching and sharing her interests came naturally to her and she took great pleasure from it. Family was central to her life and Shannon was a strong, supportive and loving mother and wife. One of Shannon’s most important and cherished roles was that of a mother; motherhood was an experience that she always desired. She instilled within her family and especially her daughters many qualities including: personal strength, determination, empathy and independence. Shannon has given her girls a strong and stable foundation that will allow them to succeed and flourish. With great strength she faced the challengers and limitations associated with chronic pain but she chose to view them as lessons – as she believed everything happed for a reason. Amidst all of the challenges that she faced she remarkably maintained an optimistic outlook on life. She loved life and strived to live hers as fully as possible. Shannon was creative and crafty, loving and empathetic, driven and focused, considerate and caring. She created and lived the life that she imagined. Shannon is and always will be loved in the memories, emotions, photos and stories that she shared and created, with those she loved and those that loved her.
Shannon is survived by her loving husband Dale; daughters Taylor and Madison; her dog and close friend Rose; mother Janet Ledingham; brother Don (Kyla) Ledingham; mother-in-law Anne Dechief; sister-in-law Brenda (Les) Schrader; sister-in-law Cheryl (Joe) Wanner; brother-in-law Greg (Pam) Dechief; grandmother Leveran Bell; nieces and nephews Ceigee, Kassesy (Andrew), Sienna (Richard), Carter, Adrienne, Derek, Amber, Avery and Cassidy; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Shannon was predeceased by her father Harvey Ledingham and father-in-law Armand Dechief.
