October 7, 1953 – April 26, 2012
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Frank Dearlove, cherished husband and loving father. Frank passed away peacefully, with the love of his family by his side on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the age of 58.
Frank leaves behind his wife Angela and his three daughters, Jillian (Brett) and grandson Aiden of Saskatoon, Jessica and Jaclyn and their mother Nada, all of Calgary; loving brothers Edward (Cathy) of Holland Landing, ON, Jim (Marie France) of Kilworth, ON and John (Wynie) of Strathroy, ON; mother and father-in-law Vincenza and Joe Tiberi; brothers-in-law Vince (Laurie) Tiberi, Libby (Debbie) Tiberi and sister-in-law Rita Tiberi, all of Hamilton, ON, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Ruth Dearlove.
Frank graduated in 1975 from York University with a BA and continued his studies at Osgoode Hall to obtain his LLB in 1978. He moved to Calgary in that same year and commenced articling with the law firm now known as Bennett Jones. His distinguished career as a respected insolvency/bankruptcy specialist spanned over 30 years. He joined the law firm Fasken Martineau in 2010. As a senior partner, Frank mentored many articling students and associates throughout the years, not only in the technical area of law, but also in interpersonal skills, such as understanding and compassion when leading clients through difficult times.
Frank had a passion for music, books, art, food, film and travel. He was blessed to have had the opportunity to enjoy all of these passions throughout the years. As his family and friends know, Frank was not interested in the “mainstream” of anything. He liked anything edgy, raw, sublime, dark, piercing, and soul searching. One needed to expand their mind and allow it to reach the outer limits. He did enjoy one mainstream activity which was the warm sunshine at the winter home in Arizona where he could chill out with a good book by the pool or enjoy a round or two of golf, especially with his three brothers.
Frank’s life was full of love and he felt blessed and fortunate to have had such a wonderful family and group of friends, but his happiness would be completed when he became a proud grandpa with the birth of his grandson, Aiden. Pride in his family came easily to Frank as he was a dedicated and supportive father and husband who always sought to provide the best for his family. Frank was a man of integrity, honour and compassion. He was quiet but confident and self-assured, a true gentleman. He was a trusting and loyal friend who would treat his friendships as a treasure to be honoured, nourished and cherished; he never took it for granted. Most of all, Frank was a family man; the love of family was his greatest joy and brought him deep rooted happiness. He loved nothing more than a big gathering of family around the table, laughing, cajoling, and of course, enjoying a great bowl of pasta. We have lost much too soon this special man, but feel honoured to have had the privilege to have known, loved and learned from him. Until we meet again.
