  17. BERT & LAURA TYSOWSKI :

My dearest friend Anne. Forty one years ago we took an adventure of a life time. Backpacking through Europe still wet behind the ears. What. From Frankfurt to Denmark where your relatives took us to where the two seas meet, and onto Copenhagen, London, Paris and Switzerland to name a few. Then it’s off to Rome. Once in Rome we check our baggage and onto the train heading for Antrodoco, Italy. Our one saving grace was the letter I had from my grandpa written in Italian introducing us to my relatives. So up the mountain we go to our destination. Lying in a warm safe bed and full tummies we started to giggle and discuss our journey to Antrodoco. Once on the platform of the train station in Antrodoco, there was no one to be found and it was getting dark. Okay, let’s get our luggage and look for a hotel. Wait the train is gone and no luggage, and its gets better, no hotel. Now what do we do? Hey there are some kids let’s ask them about my Aunty. They don’t speak English and we don’t speak Italian. Don’t panic, we’ll give them the letter from my grandpa. LOL. They read the letter and took us straight to my Aunt’s place. She and the rest of the famiglia (family) were so happy to see us. Hugs and kisses all around then off to dinner. By then it’s like 8 PM. So we eat, drink vino, eat, drink vino, more bread, pasta, MANGIA (eat) they say, until we almost dropped. But the chicken was so so delicious. Oh no! It’s not chicken it was rabbit. The next day we find out we put our luggage into a locker for safe keeping at the train station in Rome and couldn’t retrieve it until we returned. What were we thinking? We weren’t, we knew it all. No wonders we had the giggles when we went to bed on that first night in Antrodoco.
True friends are the ones who never leave your heart, even if they leave your life for a while. Even after years apart, you pick up with them right where you left off, and even if they die they’re never dead in your heart.
I’m off to Rome, Florence, Israel and the Holy Land next month my dear friend and I will be keeping you in my thoughts, heart and prayers every step of the way.
I treasured our friendship Anne and think of this trip often. Love you.

  21. Bob, words cannot express the heavy heart I felt when I read this notice. So very sorry for your loss of Anne at such a time when life should be getting better.
What a beautiful person Anne was and our remembrances of her and her professional demeanour back in the old Headquarters building.
And thoughts of her as an instructor in the noon-hour ‘Step’ classes in the old dungeon gym. Rolling her eyes and having patience with those of us klutzes who couldn’t hold the rhythm.
Thoughts of her and prayers for you my friend.

  25. Patsy and Russ Sabo :

I remember Anne’s grace and kindness, fierce dedication to work and devotion to friends.
In an environment inhabited mostly by men in the 1980’s, Anne commanded respect and ensured the civilian women were treated the same.
Annie appreciated the goofier of us (Bev…?) and, her laughter and feigned exasperation only spurred us on.
    Condolences to Bob and family,
We will remember. Patsy and Russ

  30. Dear Bob and Family. True friends don’t leave your heart. Anne was a rare type of true friend who endured the ebbs and flow of our changing lives over the past 50 odd years. Where I always thought that I was the “tough” one, she was the toughest overall. Cheers to a great spirit. I’ll love her and miss her forever…. Carol
