Immacolata De Capite, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2006, at the age of 102 years.
Immacolata was born on February 18, 1904, in Rivisondoli, L’Aquila, Italy and immigrated to Calgary in 1971 to be with her family after the death of her loving husband Giustino in 1970. During her lifetime, she survived two World Wars. Immacolata’s faith in God, courage and determination helped her cope when, with her five children and elderly parents, she had to flee her home which was under German occupation. She will always be remembered by her fervent devotion to God and the Madonna della Portella, her wonderful stories and her incredibly beautiful crotched table cloths and bedspreads which she lovingly made for her family.
