DAVIS, Doreen (nee Healy)
November 23, 1923 – December 27, 2011
Doreen Davis of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the age of 88 years.
Born in Windsor Mills, Quebec, she married the love of her life, Charles (Pat) Davis in September of 1945 upon his return from the war. Throughout their lives together, they lived coast to coast in Canada and in parts of the Eastern USA.
She was the matriarch, soul and strength of our family – the world’s greatest Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma.
Besides her family, her passions included shopping, gardening, cross-stitching, bingo and watching hockey, football and golf.
She also worked at Mannix Construction and Loram International for sixteen years.
Doreen is survived by six children, Ron (Janis), Sharon, Marilyn (Mel), Debbie (Glenn), Tina (Gary) and Scott (Ann); fifteen grandchildren, Johnny, Michael, Deanna, Chris, Patrick, Sean, Nick, James, Jake, Brian, Charlie, Lance, Alex, Danielle and Samantha; twelve great-grandchildren, Dustin, Laurean, Ethan, Sara, Christopher, Lea, Isabella, Amadea, Jolie, Khloe, Caiden and Kienna. She is also survived by her brother Maurice Healy (Therese) and numerous nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her beloved husband Charles (Pat) Davis in 1969; her sister Dolores (DoDo) Corriveau; brothers, Henry and Carl Healy.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Bowcrest Care Centre and Unit 61 at Foothills Hospital for their compassionate care for Mom.
Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
