DAVIES, Marieta Ann (nee Peters)

December 1, 1926 – January 17, 2013

Marieta Davies, beloved wife of Victor (Vic) Davies of Calgary, passed away on January 17, 2013 at the age of 86 years.

Marieta was an accomplished homemaker. She had a special place in her heart for her great-grandchild Riley and her sheltie Bailey. She supported family in Windsor, ON and Edmonton, Fort McMurray and Calgary, AB. She was a past member of IODE, Eastern Star and the Stroke Recovery Association of Calgary.

Besides her loving husband Vic, Marieta is survived by a son and daughter-in-law George and Elizabeth Davies of Calgary; daughter Margaret Doran of Windsor, ON; three grandchildren Stephen Doran and David (Natalie) Doran of Windsor, and Kevin Davies of Calgary; and a great-grandson Riley Doran of Windsor. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law John and Carolyn Peters of Garson, ON, sister-in-law Carol Kennedy of Oakville, ON; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family throughout Canada.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Stroke Recovery Association of Calgary, P.O. Box 5051, Station A, Calgary, AB T2H 1X1.

    So very sorry to hear that Mrs. Davies passed on. She will always be “Mrs. Davies” to me since I met her that way nearly 45 years ago when I picked up her daughter Margaret for our first date. I grew to admire her motherhood, grace, humour, generosity in spirit and deed and her ability to make a kid of 15 feel important. I’ll carry her memory with me forever.
