Isabel Dahl of Calgary passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the age of 101 years.
Isabel was born June 18, 1913 in Zealandia, Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary in 1926. She joined St. Andrews Presbyterian Church at the age of 13 and was a member for the last 88 years. Isabel was a life member of the Women’s Missionary Society and the Ladies’ Guild. Isabel met her husband Jack at Johnson’s Canyon in the summer of 1943. They were married in August, 1944 and had one daughter, Thelma. Isabel had three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved. She loved spending all holidays and special events with her family and travelled with them until she was 95 years old. Isabel was known as the “Cookie Lady” in Inglewood and kids could always count on a treat when they knocked at her door. She kept active doing volunteer work all her life, cooking, hosting dinner parties, doing crossword puzzles, and baking cookies for the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.She will be missed!
Isabel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Sam Cameron; three granddaughters, Sheila and Jeff Cherniawsky and their children, Anthony (Jason Lemmon), Nick (Shelley), and Tiana (David Sirois); Shawna and Ken McCabe and their daughter Camryn; Christie Cameron and Troy Skidmore and their children, Matthew and JonJon. She is also survived by her sister Thelma Parker and numerous nieces and nephews. Isabel was predeceased by her husband Jack Dahl in 1975; her brothers James Torry and Bill Torry; and her sisters Marion Coonfer and Zina Mole.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
