October 9, 1939 – June 6, 2010
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of David John Daffin after a brief but valiant battle with a very serious illness on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the age of 70 years.
David was born in 1939 in Burton-on-Trent, England and moved to Canada in 1947. He attended the University of Toronto where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later attended night school to attain his MBA. He started his career with Imperial Oil in Sarnia and Coquitlam. He moved his family to Calgary in 1975 to join Petro-Canada and later retired and pursued some independent contracting opportunities in the oil and gas industry.
For the last eight years, he has led a very active life including ballroom dancing, golf, and travelling, in addition to the summers spent surrounded by his family and friends at the cottage in Parry Sound, Ontario.
David is survived by his friend Karen; his three children, Kathy, Mike and Jayne; two son-in-laws, Bob and Geoff; daughter-in-law Jean; as well as sister Sheila and brother Henry. David was predeceased by his dear wife Diane in 2002. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
