D’EATH – Graham Stuart

May 20, 1929 – October 21, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Graham Stuart D’Eath on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the age of 81 years.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Graham was born in Calgary on May 20, 1929. Throughout his life Graham had a passion for sports – be it golf, curling, skiing, basketball, football, or baseball. He excelled as a pitcher in both the city and oil fastball leagues. Graham worked at Imperial Oil, retiring after thirty-nine years of service. Following his retirement, Graham spent much of his time golfing and developing his many friendships at the Inglewood Golf & Curling Club.

Graham is forever the loving husband to his wife of fifty-eight years Muriel; and committed father to his children, Gordon (Janice Kozub), Valerie (Wayne), John (Kelly), and Jane (Sven). Grandpa will be dearly missed by eight grandchildren, Jillian (Clark), Mike (Justine), Stacey (Mike), Daniel, Jacob, Katherine, Erik, and Ethan; and great-grandson Theodore. He was predeceased by his son Gordon D’Eath; sister Valerie; mother and father Emma and Leonard; and step-father Bertram Millar.

A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through Donations Heart and Stroke or Tom Baker.

In living memory of Graham D’Eath, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

  4. Carol Kounadis :

Graham must have been the best dad ever. My family knew Gord very well, he was my son’s hockey coach. Gord and Janice used to pick up Alex from our house, take him to games, cheer him on and bring him home again when we were unable to do so. Gord was simply “a really nice upstanding guy.” He was honest, sincere and way too much fun. Our community was devastated when he died. We never met Graham but we feel as though we knew him through his son. It takes a great dad to rear a great son like Gord. Graham must be proud of all his accomplishments. May he rest in eternal peace.
Alex joined Gord in hockey heaven in 2004

I’m so sorry to hear about Graham. You were all so supportive and even under the circumstances it was great to get to know the family. Muriel, it was always nice to see you on the unit, while I know it was tough on you, you always had a kind word for us nurses. I’m sorry I was unable to make it to the service but as you said, I’m always at work…Please feel free to email me at the email provided anytime…I will miss you…Christine Johnston RN Unit 91
