CURLETTE, Edward (Ted)

Edward (Ted) Curlette was born in Calgary, Alberta on May 17th, 1964 and left this world peacefully on September 4th, 2012.

Ted lived in Calgary throughout his childhood and graduated from Bishop Carroll high school in 1982. After that he went on to study economics at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Upon graduation Ted returned to Calgary to ply his trade in the family business. Ted realized the growing economic potential of Southeast Asia in the early 90’s and decided to pursue his M.B.A. in Jakarta, Indonesia. Upon graduation Ted was offered a position at Praxair, Indonesia by the man who would become his mentor, the late Pak Pugianto. Ted lived in Indonesia for 11 years. He then continued his economic career in Canada. Ted also had a great passion for sports. He enjoyed watching and playing all sports throughout his life. It was often said of him that if the ball weren’t already invented, Ted would have invented it!

Although he loved sports and economics, Ted’s greatest passion in life was raising his three daughters. Ted was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by Cathy, (nineteen), and the twins Beverly and Jessica, (fifteen). Ted is survived and remembered by his daughters, his father Edward, mother Catherine, sister Veronica and brother Michael, as well as his extended family of relatives including the MacDougall, Hodgson, Scott, Prieur and McDougall families.

Take peace and comfort on your journey

Condolence Messages

  1. Bob MacDougall :

    To Uncle Ed, Auntie Cathy, Veronica, Mike, Cathy, Beverly & Jessica;
    Our hearts and prayers are with you. We remember Ted with so many great memories: first as a fun loving cousin always ready for a game (who could forget driving golf balls to the island from the backyard on Lake Bonaventure); later as a serious young man chasing his business dreams in Indonesia, and of course most recently as a devoted father of Cathy, Bev and Jess. We also remember him as a tremendous fighter these last couple of years. We wish you the very best in this difficult time and that you can march onwards knowing Ted is resting in peace. With Love, Bob, Shelley, Brendan & Madyson

  9. Susan & Tommy O'Donnell :

    We are so saddened to hear of the passing of Ted. He was a neighbour of ours in Gort, County Galway, Ireland with his beautiful daughters and of course his lovely parents who lived across the road. I can still picture Ted coming home from work in the evening and rollerblading around the green in the Maples. May your loving family always feel your presence in their lives.

  12. B. Prabowo Kartoleksono :

    Dear Mr and Mrs Curlette,

    I had the honour to become Ted’s group mate during our MBA year at IPMI, Jakarta and ever since Ted had become my best friend, my tutor and greatest critic. He also became my children’s “Oom Ted” (Uncle Ted) and he had followed their growing up closely. Although separated by what he said as “the big pond” we shared and discussed a lot of things, especially when he managed to visit Jakarta for the last time. Kindly accept our deepest and sincere condolences for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers with both of you, Cathy, and the twins Beverly and Jessica.

    Best regards,
    B. Prabowo Kartoleksono (Bowo)
