CURLE, Carol Ann (nee Meredith)

June 27, 1960 – April 20, 2013

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the loss of Carol Curle who passed away peacefully on April 20, 2013 at the age of 52 years.

Carol will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband John, her children Lisa (Wayne) and Shauna; her parents Rose and Harry Meredith and sister Lynne (Merlin). She also leaves her very special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and in-law families.

Carol was born in Fort Churchill, MB to Rose and Harry. She grew up in Saskatoon, SK and she received her BSc from the University of Saskatchewan in 1981. That same year she moved to Calgary; she and John were married on August 1. While living in Calgary she received her MSc in Microbiology from the University of Calgary in 1987; she continued to work for the UofC as a microbiology researcher.

Carol had an immense love of the outdoors which included many hiking and camping trips to her favorite spots: Prince Albert, Banff and Jasper National Parks, and recently William Watson Lodge in Kananaskis. Once Carol was diagnosed with MS she overcame many obstacles with dignity and lived life to the fullest, despite her physical limitations. Carol will be remembered for her cheery smile, kindness, generosity, friendship and love.

A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held at Varsity Acres Presbyterian Church (4612 Varsity Drive N.W.) on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Condolence Messages

  1. Chelsea Birks :

    Dear Curle family,

I want to offer my condolences for the loss of Carol Curle. I know we have not spoken in quite a few years (since first year university when I was in residence with Lisa, I think), but I have thought of your family often since then and wondered how Carol was doing. I have nothing but fond memories of her, from when Lisa and I were in school together and I used to come over to the house. I know she will be remembered, and greatly missed.

    Sincerely,

    Chelsea Birks

  4. Dear John and family,
I was saddened to hear about the passing of Carol. I know that she suffered a great deal in the past couple of years and that this was difficult for you all. She had always been so creative and independent that this kind of decline would have changed so much about all that she enjoyed. My thoughts will be with you and your girls on Tuesday and in the days and months that follow. May you find peace and rest now that these struggles are over. Love Lana
