Joyce Pearl (nee Nabozniak), beloved mother and grandmother, passed away suddenly in Calgary on December 16, 2006 at the age of 67 years.
Joyce was born on the family farm near Saltcoats, Saskatchewan where she lived until she joined the Air Force in 1957, after which she was stationed in Parent, Quebec until 1960 when she was honourably discharged. Following her Air Force career, she relocated to Calgary, where she has lived ever since, after marrying Gordon Kahut in 1962. With Gordon she raised three daughters, and was a homemaker until 1973 when she returned to the work force as a meat wrapper for Loblaws, and then Safeway. In 1983, she and Gordon were divorced, and Joyce took a different career track, as a Court Services Officer for the Court of Queen’s Bench, a job she enjoyed until her retirement in 2003. While she was working for the courts, she met her second husband, Sinclair Crowell, whom she married in 1984 and who predeceased her in 1993.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Tamara Truax (Greg Lamoureux) of Strathmore, Whitney Kahut of Calgary, and Monica Kahut of Vancouver. Joyce is also survived by her two grand-daughters, Sabrina Truax and Chelsea Truax; brother Stanley Nabozniak; sisters Ruth Olenick (Nick) and Lenora Harasen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Phillip and Mary Nabozniak, infant sister Nelda, sisters Eugenia and Ann, and two brothers, Mike and Wesley.
