It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Violet Crowchild of Tsuu T’ina, AB on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the age of 95 years.
Violet was born, raised and spent her life-time on Tsuu T’ina Nation. She worked all her life, starting as a cleaning lady, then a cook and after training she became an Education Councillor. Violet worked very hard and raised all her children to be hard workers. She was also active in the ranching industry. Violet taught her children how to raise cattle and horses. She also raised chickens, geese, ducks and turkeys. Her grandchildren gave her the name “Sugar Gran”. They thought she was full of sugar and sweet.
Violet is survived by her children, Harley (Mildred), Regina, Calvin, Vera Marie and Sandra; a brother Roy Otter; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sons Rudy and Rupert; her parents Oscar and Daisy Otter; a brother Alfred; a sister Rosie; grandchildren Bobby, Wesley, Mabeline, and Violet; great-grandchildren Eli, Jonas and Loran and great-great-grandchildren Veda and Keely. The family apologizes for anyone they may have missed.
Wake Services will be held at Violet’s home (Tsuu T’ina, AB) on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Sarcee Seven Chiefs Sportplex (Tsuu T’ina, AB) on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuu T’ina Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all the service providers especially Josephine Crowchild from South Campus Hospital for the wonderful care given to Violet.
