It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, mother, grandmother, auntie, and friend, Edith Crowchild.
Edith was known as “Granny” to all who knew her and was a very gracious lady. She loved and cared for every individual that she had met during her life. Her heart was as big as the world and her door was always open for any one who needed it. Granny was a wise lady who always had a story to tell from funny stories of her younger years to traditional stories that we all learned from. She will be lovingly remembered by a family too enormous to name. We will miss her dearly. Edith enjoyed and looked forward to her monthly Tsuu T’ina Elders meetings when she could sit and visit with her friends and discuss the Nations issues and offer the guided advice that we so treasure from our elders. Granny enjoyed going to community events and being in the presence of the young children at school functions.
Edith is survived by her brothers, Russel (Mary), Clarence, Frank (Eileen), and Rodney (Yvonne) Big Crow; sisters, Keitha Many Horses, Vanora (Clifford) Big Plume, and Eva Yellowhorn; sons, Alex (Helen), Charles, Neil (Patricia), Patrick (Aldina), Elliot (Priscilla), and Leon (Kyla) Crowchild; daughter Frances (Helmut) Jensen; daughters-in-law, Sherrie, Sandie, Mary, Cheryl, Josephine, Marie, Betty, Lauren, Cita, Bernie, Jackie, Daphne, and Terri; sixty grandchildren; ninety-four great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Martha Big Crow; her loving and dear husband Isaac; step mother Hilda Big Crow; father and mother-in-law, Bertie and Bessie Crowchild; brothers Elmer and Hector; and sister Mable; sons, Allen, Emerson, and Bradley; daughters, Peggy, Jaqueline, Irene, and Rita; sons-in-law, Jack Fullerton, Alfred Spracker, and Mike Puskaric; daughter-in-law Nadine Johnson; grandchildren, Colin, Theodore, Patrick, and Kerry; great-grandchildren, Leanne, Destiny, Kurdistan, Cree Dawn, and Stacy Brett. Edith also had extended families within the Stoney, Blood, Blackfoot and Piikunii Nations; as well as numerous friends from tribes all over. The family apologizes for any one they may have missed.
