  3. To the Cragg family: I first met Bill when we were trying to sell boomer tickets wayback in 1981. We both had a love for sport and I think we were trying anything to get our foot in the door somewhere with a sports organization…he succeeded at doing that much better than I did. Our paths crossed over the years because of the Parker family and the Cannons and I remember him showing me his championship ring years ago from I think the hockey team he worked for with the Parkers down in the states!! I was able to work at the Olympics in Calgary at Canada Olympic Park and we of course renewed acquaintances. It was always a pleasure to run into your dad and husband and reminisce over old times. He was a real nice guy and he will be missed. He was a true credit to his profession and his passion for the sports he loved. I am so sad to read that he is gone, Calgary has lost a true sportsman and you have lost a true friend and special guy. I am so sorry for your loss.

  5. I was so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. I worked with him for many years when he was at the Cannon’s and I was a client. It was not just his professionalism that made him great to work with, but his ready smile and ability to make everyone of any position feel like an integral part of his success made him a true pleasure to know. He will be sorely missed by many.

  13. Dear Lauren,
    This is Lori Block.
I taught Bobby “Gymboree Music.” I saw Bill’s obituary and was both very shocked and very saddened. I had to send you my very deepest condolences on your huge loss. Bill was a special man and my memories of him are sweet. He sure loved you and the boys.
The last time I saw him was at Nick’s Steakhouse a couple years back, I had also seen him at various sports games. He always greeted me with a smile and a hug and seemed genuinely happy to see me. He always was kind and welcoming to my husband Stan too. Stan thought alot of him just from the couple times they had met. He spoke of you and the boys every single time and lit up every time he did.
You know, I can still see Bobby in music class. He was one of my favorites (even though you are not supposed to have favorites) He looked and reminded me of my little brother Bobby. I can scarcely believe that he must be around 14 years old now. I remember you pregnant with David but I never had the chance to know him.
Three years ago we lost our precious daughter Jayda to brain cancer (29 years old) and so I know the pain of watching someone you love deteriorate and slip away and of grieving deep loss.
I want you to know I will be praying for you and the boys. May God comfort and carry you through this difficult time.
    With hugs, sincere sympathies,
    and
    My Love
    Lori

I worked with Bill years ago at Sportagon in Market Mall. I have many great memories of fun times we had – on the day after one of our Christmas parties, we found him sleeping in the back storage room on one of the sleeping bags. I remember him always talking and laughing about Saturday night live and Steve Martin. He was a great person, and I extend my deepest sympathies to his family. Loriss

    Lauren, Bobby and David,
I had the honor of meeting Bill for the first time more than 35 years ago. Whenever our paths crossed throughout those 35 years he was always the same funny, gentle and caring man. Later in life I was proud to introduce him to my family as my friend, Bill. God bless.

  21. I’m so sorry to learn of the passing of Bill. When he was with the Cannons, he was the liaison between the Club and my little dixieland jazz band, booking and formatting what we were to do when we were booked to perform at the occasional game. He was a real stand-up guy, well organized and a pleasure to work with; he made our job easier becasuse of this. He will be missed by all of us who knew him in this capacity.

To Lauren, Bobby and David and all family members, I’m so sorry for your loss of this fine gentleman.

We are so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. He was an outstanding sports executive and we enjoyed working with him at the Cannons. We still have a commercial which Bill orchestrated featuring our sons with some hilarious out-takes on which Bill interacts with our little one… who is now 29 years old! We pray that time will allow you to reflect with joy upon the many happy days you were able to enjoy with Bill.
