We celebrate the life of a gracious, humorous and elegant Englishman. Peter was born in Leadgate, County Durham, England, the son of Leo and Phyllis Cox. He was educated in England at Harrow on the Hill R.C., Gunnersbury Grammar School, Southhall Technical when the war broke. He joined the R.A.F. and trained as a pilot. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 and married Patricia Scott at Sacred Heart Parish in Calgary in 1955.
Arriving in Canada he first worked as a surveyor in Kitimat, BC. He consulted for Reid Crowther Consultants in Edmonton, later working in the engineering field for Tottrup Engineering. He was involved in the pilot project for the tar sands with City Services in Fort McMurray in 1959. He retired in 1991 as Vice President of business development for Western Canada with SNC Lavalin. In retirement Peter was active in Calgary Probus and spent many years with Calgary Meals on Wheels.
The family enjoyed summers at the cottage in Invermere and later Nelson, BC. Peter enjoyed sailing with his boys in Windermere and Kootenay Lakes. Peter and Patricia took many cruises together and exchanged their home in Calgary with others in many countries.
We have lost our “English Patient” Peter, who has left us with a treasured, happy life and a blessed Legacy.
