We’re saddened to learn of Barry’s passing and wanted to let all of you know that you’re in our thoughts at this time. On behalf of my family, we send you our condolences.

Learning the date of Barry’s birthday, he was born just days before my father, Terry Allan – they were cousins. We’d like to think that they’ve been reunited with each other and with all other family and friends that have passed on. And that they’re all watching over us!

Greetings from cousins in Woodstock and Brantford. So sorry to hear about Barry and finding life is so cruel and becoming older only makes you realize….WHY DIDN’T WE STAY IN TOUCH! Now it’s too late but he was a great cousin and ask that you pass on my condolences to Linda and Patti too. I hate loosing family and I know what you’re going through as I lost my husband Doug of 39 years a year and a half ago to cancer. I wish you well and it’s a slow process but you will pull through! Lots of Love

  12. Pamela Allan :

Dear Gloria, Martha, Neal and Preston, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to you all, at this very sad time. I was very surprised to hear of Barry’s passing. I was married to Terry Allan, Barry’s cousin and I immediately thought of how sad Terry would be if he knew Barry was gone. Terry himself passed away in 1999 of cancer. I would like to express my sympathy to Barry’s Sisters, Linda and Pat and their families at this time. I am thinking of you all. On a brighter note, I have very fond memories of the Allan Family when we had the family re-union in St. George, Ontario at our house. It was truely a wonderful event and great to see all of the family. I think it was so wonderful to have gotten as many members as we did to the reunion. I will always remember how Barry put the screenprint picture of the Allan family on T-shirts and we got to keep and wear them. It was wonderful of him to do so.
    You are in my thoughts.

    Pam Allan.

  14. Scott Fletcher :

I am deeply saddened to learn of Barry’s passing. Our paths had separated 15 years ago and I was trying to relocate him on the web, when I learned this terrible news.

He is just the greatest guy you could ever imagine. A decent person to the core.

We spent many hours, years in fact, working together and having fun too. In those times, we would often talk about friends and family. During those conversations, his great admiration and affection for Gloria could not be concealed, in spite of his gruff exterior. Without question, they were REAL soul mates, and this –I thought– was the coolest thing in the world.

To me, Barry was not your average guy — not by a long shot. He was an artist, writer, thinker, philosopher, inventor and much more. Such a creative, witty and intelligent guy, and incredibly warm and generous too. Barry taught me so many things, but mostly he showed me –by example– what a truly good person was really like. And I have never met one better or forgotten his example.

Barry, I love you man. Getting to the inevitable “other side”, now seems a bit more attractive! 🙂 See you then.
With the greatest respect and affection,
    SCOTT FLETCHER

  15. I met Barry when I started my first real graphics job out of school. His work ethic and devotion to quality were a great example and I learned a lot. After our work lives diverged he always stayed in touch, and I consider him a true friend. Barry’s sense of humour, joy in the English language and a good argument will always stay with me, as will his family values and pride in his children – I will miss him a lot. My deepest condolences to Gloria and family – Marla

Words cannot express the sympathies enough, having been through it fairly recently with mom, Beverly (Allan) Stilwell. One reality of current lives is how far apart we can become, so make those moments for those close to you count, as you never know when you will no longer have the opportunity.

    Take care all.

    RE Pam Allan

I was going through some stuff mere days ago, and still have the Family Reunion tee from all those years ago… Of course the body of the shirt would barely go over my forearm now, but it brought a smile. Cooking (what seemed like) millions of burgers for the clan (as I worked part time at Harveys, I was elected) seemed like an endless task.
