COTTON, Wesley Herschel

October 1, 1927 – January 28, 2012

Wesley Cotton of Calgary passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the age of 84 years.

Wesley was born in Swan River, MB. He worked for C.P. Rail for thirty-eight years and retired in Calgary. He was an avid golfer and curler. In retirement, Wesley enjoyed spending winters in California and summers at Mara Lake, BC.

Wesley is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Valerie and John Wolfe; son and daughter-in-law Murray and Simone Cotton; four grandchildren, Alanna (Eric) Hansen, Jolayne (Jeremy) Lewis, Devin Wolfe and Brendan Cotton; two great-grandchildren Summer Hanson and Destynee Lewis. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law Al and Lil Cotton; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Wesley was predeceased by his wife Verna Cotton.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Hector Rose officiating.     My condolences to the families of Wes Cotton on his passing. Our family is getting smaller and smaller. It is almost a year since we lost our Louise Cotton. Now our family of 9 is down to five. We will one day be altogether again.

    Your Dad is now at peace. I still smile when I think of Wes in Dad (Valentino) and Mom’s (Joan) kitchen making everyone laugh, he was a wonderful friend to my father as I am sure he was to many.

    I am sorry to hear of the passing of Wes. Although I only worked for and with him for 7 years, I want you to know he was such a fair and proffesional man. I am proud to say he was the best boss I have ever had.

    Sorry to hear about the passing of Wes. Our daughter Susan informed us as we are in Arizona. We had many fun times in the 50′s and 60′s with Wes and Verna when our families were little.
