CORDOVA, Leonora (nee Pabalan)

November 11, 1946 – Candaba, Philippines
May 14, 2014 – Calgary, AB

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Leonora Cordova. She courageously fought ovarian cancer and passed away peaceful surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Foothills Medical Centre at the age of 67.

Leonora was born in Candaba, Pampanga, Philippines, the 3rd child of Bernabe and Emenencia Pabalan. She spent her childhood with her 5 siblings in the Philippines and from an early age she showed a propensity to care for others. Their mother passed away when Leonora was 10 years old she was handed the duty of caring for her younger brothers and sisters. She married Angelito at the age of 18 and together they had 6 loving children. She persevered through numerous hardships and trials in an attempt to continuously improve their life.

Together, Leonora and Angelito instilled the importance of faith, family and education. Her passion continued to Canada when she emigrated in 1999 along with her husband and youngest daughter, Angelica. Her greatest gift was unconditional love to her husband, children and grandchildren. She dedicated her life to taking care of her family. Leonora will always be remembered for her famous cooking and dimpled smile. Her memories will remain in our hearts.

Our family would like to take this opportunity to thank the Staff of Unit 42, Tom Baker Oncology Team, the Palliative Home Care Team, and all the family and friends who had reached out to us over the last few weeks. Your support has been greatly appreciated.

Leonora Cordova is survived by her husband, Angelito, her six children Laura (Ricarte Bruno), Moises (Priscilla Avendano), Elvira (Elino Limpin), Carlota (Alex Cruz), Catherine (Robert Dumlao) and Angelica, her thirteen grandchildren Ericson, Patrick, Joseph, Nathanael, John Mark, Aaron Paul, Moises Jr., Elaine, Elvin, Aljhon, Aliah, Kristine and Siemon, and her five siblings, Elenito, Lolita, Adarna, Wilson and Melia.
