Eva Ilene Corbett, beloved wife of Leonard Corbett of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the age of 86 years.
Eva was born in Steveville, Alberta July 27th 1927 and was the youngest of 9 children. Eva grew up during the great depression and despite the hard times, Eva enjoyed school and all the good things prairie life offered. In 1947 the Imes family moved to Forest Lawn, Calgary. In 1950 Eva met her future husband, Len Corbett, at the Tea Kettle Inn. Eva was working as a waitress and Len was a frequent visitor as his sister worked with Eva. They dated for one year and were married June 1st, 1951. Len and Eva settled in Bowness, Calgary and raised a family of four. Eva placed a high level of importance on education. When she was in her 60’s, she completed her High School Diploma. Eva also placed a high level of importance on volunteering and spent many days volunteering at the Bethany Care Center. An avid writer, Eva had many short stories published in newspapers and read on the CBC, and when Eva was in her 70’s she completed a novel called ‘A Different Breed’. All cats and dogs loved Eva. There was always a guarantee of a treat and a warm hug. The Family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Extendicare Hillcrest in Calgary. Over the past 4 years the care they provided Eva was a level of care that made her time there comfortable and enjoyable.
Besides her devoted husband, Eva is also survived by her son Randy and his wife Audrey. Along with her loving husband, Eva is remembered by daughter-in-law Patricia Corbett, daughter-in-law and son-in-law Cheryl and Russ Ewert; grandchildren Adam and Nathan, Darcy and Tara Busslinger, Jon and Tanya Tate, Kimberly and Scott Kennedy; and great grandchildren Cole, McKayla, Owen, William, Clara; and extended family members and dear friends. Eva was predeceased by three of her children; Richard, Leonard, and Colleen Corbett.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Thomas United Church (100 HAWKWOOD BOULEVARD N.W.), on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:00p.m. The family would like to kindly decline flowers. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
