COPP, Judith (nee Hume)

March 28, 1950 – Montague, PEI
May 2, 2014 – Calgary, AB

Judith Copp beloved wife of Paul Copp of Calgary, passed away on May 2, 2014 at the age of 64 years.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Judith Copp, after a five year battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday afternoon.

Judith was born in Montague, PEI and was raised in Manitoba, British Columbia and New Brunswick. She met her husband Paul in New Brunswick when she was sixteen and the two spent forty-six years of marriage together, in which she was a stay at home mom for her children. Judith enjoyed playing cards, board games, bingo, and baking. What Judith loved more than anything was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grand-parent, and always put the needs of her family before her own. Her selfless and welcoming nature made it easy and effortless to love her. She will be remembered by her quick wit, her amazing strength and perseverance, and her faith and compassion.

Judith is survived by her husband Paul; her four children; Troy, Travis (Jamie), Tony (Kate), and Tami; six grand-children Daniel, Hailey, Whitney, Braxton, Logan, and Hannah; brother Dana (Dianne) Hume; sister Daryl Huson (nee Hume), and many nieces and nephews.

Judith was predeceased by her parents Don (Daniel) and Louise Hume; brother Lynn; and sisters Cheryl and Jill.

In honour of Judith, donations may be made to the Calgary Food Bank (5000 11 St SE, Calgary) Telephone: (403) 253-2059. A warm thank-you to the dedicated doctors, nurses and staff at the South Health Campus ICU who assisted Judith and her family in her final days.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Judith Copp, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

A remarkable woman and an incredible aunt. For what it is worth, my heart goes to you at this time. After losing mom, I know now everything Aunt Judith did, she did out of love. I was a broken person, and still not quite put back. I regret many things that I said to her over the years, and wish I could have apologized before her passing. I wish you all prosperity and peace. I wish I could attend. Be well Copp family.

    Paul and family
Can’t even begin to think what a loss my dear cousin must be for the whole family. She was the thread that held everyone together and loved being the stay at home Mom. She even stayed up worrying about Bob and me when we were visiting and taking side trips. I’m so happy to have spent time with you and Judith in PEI a couple of years ago.
Thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
