COPLEY – Olga Mary

1925 –2011

On Wednesday, April 20, 2011 Olga Copley of Calgary died peacefully after a six year fight with cancer at the age of 86 years.

A woman of character, strength and dignity, Olga was actively involved in business and community in her thirty-two years in Banff where she worked as an administrative assistant at the Banff Centre, raised her family and helped Reg run Copley Plumbing and Heating. In spite of the loss of her sight, Olga was able to live independently and carry on her activities with the same commitment and passion she had always shown. Her challenges were met with great courage.

  1. Gloria Riva Burdett :

As a young girl growing up in Banff, I recall so well the happy association of Olga & Reg with my parents, John and Phil Riva. Banff was a great community in those years made so by people like your folks.

Tho’ your memories cannot make the sorrow disappear, in time may they comfort you.

  2. During my high school years in Banff I had many an opportunity to be a recipient of Mrs Copley’s thoughtfulness for others. Her legacy of doing for others, whether family or community, has enriched the lives of all that she touched. I am so glad that I am one of them.

My condolences to all that grieve her passing. Hers was truly a life of fulfillment and giving. If we could all be so lucky to leave footprints on earth similar to hers. What a wonderful life that would be.

    With a joyful sadness,
    Richard Dean
