Marjorie Cooke died on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the age of 93 years.

Marjorie was born in Kinloss Township in Bruce County, Ontario. She was schooled in the area as well, finishing her education in Timmins, Ontario. In 1939 at the start of WWII, Marjorie was one of the first females to work at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Wingham, Ontario. At the end of the war she transferred to the CIBC in Toronto where she married William E. Cooke in 1958. They raised their children in Toronto and upon Bill’s retirement in 1986 they moved to Vancouver.

Marjorie loved to sing and dance. She enjoyed entertaining and was a wonderful hostess. Marjorie loved, and was dearly loved by her family and friends. Our mother was a strong, practising Christian who lived her faith and her life with grace and integrity.

Marjorie is survived and will be greatly missed by her son and daughter-in-law Martin and Helene Cooke; daughter Carol Cooke; grandchildren Jodie and Jennifer Cooke and David, Brian and Saveah Reinhardt.

Marjorie was predeceased by her husband William E. Cooke of Vancouver; her brother Jack Herd of Chatham, Ontario; her sister Jean Ball and their parents George and Margaret Herd of Clinton, Ontario.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at Bethany Care Centre Cochrane (302 Quigley Drive, Cochrane, AB), on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at the family plot in the Culross-Teeswater Cemetery in Bruce County at a later date.

  1. Ruth Fletcher :

My sincere condolences to you, Dear Carol and to Martin and family, on the death of your dear mother. I pray that the Lord will surround you with His Peace, encourage you in His love, and strengthen you with His Presence, especially at the service on Friday, but also during the days to come. May you be comforted knowing that your mother is now with her Father in Heaven where “all things will be made new” (Rev. 21-4-5) and she will now and always experience “fullness of joy” and “pleasures forever” (Psalm 16:11) With love, Ruth
