Cooke, Malcolm Grant

Malcolm Grant Cooke, dear husband of Norma Gladys of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Malcolm was born in Montreal, QC on November 14, 1923. He attended StrathconaAcademy in Outremont, QC and Sir George Williams in Montreal. In 1941 he commenced employment with National Drug and Chemical Company of Canada Limited (Medis Health and Pharmaceutical Services Inc), and remained with the company until his retirement in Calgary in 1987. Malcolm enlisted in the Canadian Army in Montreal in 1943 and served with No 4 District Company, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps until his discharge in Calgary in 1947 where he rejoined “National”. In the early 60’s, Malcolm was active in the Boy Scouts of Canada and held the positions of Scoutmaster at the 80th Troop, NorthGlenmorePark; and subsequently was appointed Assistant District Commissioner of the Glenmore District. Malcolm and Norma enjoyed travelling with their dear friends Dorothy and Ron Kennedy, visiting Australia, New Zealand, many Caribbean islands and parts of Europe.  Besides his loving wife, Malcolm is survived by his son Carl Cooke and Kathy Morgan; daughter Debra and Phil McDonald; and four grandchildren, Michael, Christy, Amanda, and Jennifer. Malcolm is also survived by his brother Bill and Ruth of Campbellville, ON. He was predeceased by his mother Lilian in 1974 and his father Carl in 1985. A Private Family Gathering will be held. Forward condolences through If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Calgary Humane Society, 4455 – 110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, In living memory of Malcolm Cooke, a tree will be planted at FishCreekProvincialPark by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
