It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father Ed Coley at the Invermere & District Hospital on Tuesday, June 25, 2013.
Ed was born in Gananoque, ON and raised on the family farm in Clyde, AB. During World War II he served with the Royal Canadian Navy Medical Branch. After working nine years in the pharmacy at Cowles Drugs in Edmonton, Ed became a pharmaceutical sales representative spending the majority of his career with Pfizer Canada, until his retirement in 1982. Starting in 1948 he was active in all levels of the Royal Canadian Legion at both the provincial and dominion levels, rising to the position of Dominion President from 1978 – 1980. Ed was an avid curler in the winter and loved to spend his summers at his cottage in Fairmont, BC golfing at Coy’s and windsurfing on Columbia Lake.
He is survived by his children Sandra (Lawrence) Magee, Sharron (John) White, and Don (Pat) Coley; step-children Gordon (Brenda) MacCalder and Donna (John) Balcers; grandchildren Jay (Erika), Tara (Cory), David, Adene, Ryan (Daniela), Ross, Carmen, Scott (Melody) and Marni (Morris); great grandchildren Erica, Olivia, Nolan, Adea, Jake, Mitchell, Makayla, Katrina, and Justin.
Ed was predeceased by the love of his life Agnes in 2008; brothers Tom and George and sister Phyllis.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
