May 1, 1921 – June 1, 2012
It is with sorrow that we mark the peaceful passing of Sonia at the Carewest Garrison Green Nursing Home, Calgary at the age of 91 years.
She is survived by her only nephew Vance Haden. After living a full and meaningful life she will be reunited with her parents Anastia and Charles Colesnik, Polish immigrants, and with her three sisters, Anne (Lenard) Haden, Rose (Richard) Chester, Julia (Charles) Sneddon, all of whom she proudly spent many hours assisting and attending to their health in their later years.
Sonia was born and raised in Calgary where she proudly bought her own house and meticulously kept it to a tee. After Western Canada High School, Sonia attended Dorothy Carnegie personal development classes and went on to start her career as a secretary, assistant to the manager of Union Packing at the age of 18 for twenty-eight years. She then moved on to work with Strong Scott Sullivan until her retirement.
Sonia kept very active throughout her life with bowling, loved to go golfing and walked absolutely everywhere. Travelling North America was one of her favorite past times, which was attested to by traveling to all of the Canadian provinces and nearly all of the U.S. states many times. Her personal favorite in her later years was Kingfisher Resort, Comox, B.C. Sonia will be sadly missed and remembered for her unwavering faith in God and her strong dedication and love for her family.
