Edward George (Ted) Cole passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 9, 2004 while watching the Flames game, following a valiant struggle with heart disease at the age of 68 years.
Ted was born in Calgary and raised on the family farm at De Winton. He attended Stormont and Okotoks Schools and upon graduation moved to Calgary to pursue a career in the oil business. He retired from Shell Oil after thirty-nine years service in December 1993. He was well known in fastball circles in Calgary and played hockey in Calgary and Okotoks. He was recognized for outstanding service to Shell Sports in 1961. Upon retirement he thoroughly enjoyed golfing with the seniors at Turner Valley. Ted was a long time member of the Acadia Community Association, he coached hockey and baseball as his sons were growing up. He and Linda treasure the wonderful friendships they have made over the past forty-one years.
Ted is survived by his loving wife Linda; his two sons and daughter-in-law Brad of East Malaysia; Jeff and Lori and by his two precious grandchildren Taryn and Jeremy all of Calgary. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Betty Cole of Okotoks and Lucille Cole of De Winton; Aunt Ruby Cole of Okotoks; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and June, and his two brothers, Ernest and Fred.
