COLE – Colin Francis

July 20, 1946 – October 25, 2010

Colin was born in Calgary on July 20, 1946, and died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, October 25, 2010.

He lived in Westgate and attended Vincent Massey Junior High, and graduated from Western High School. The thrill of adventure drew Colin to the sunny shores of California where he worked for a skateboard company at the start of the skateboard craze. He returned to Calgary in the late 1960’s and took a position with Air Canada, where he worked for many years. After leaving Air Canada, Colin’s great voice, and love of music took him across Canada and the U.S. as far south as Texas. He returned to his Canadian home in Calgary in 1988. Colin loved the Flames Hockey Club, playing guitar and crib with his friends. He will be remembered for his love of laughing at a good joke, and strumming on his guitar.

Colin is survived by his sister Bonnie (Keith) Laycock, his only niece Laura (Ken) Kleiner, and their children, Makenna, Simone, and Cole; and his only nephew, Jonathan (Jessica) Laycock. Colin is also survived by his loving aunt Dorothy Kendrick, who cherished him. He is also survived by several cousins. Colin was predeceased by his beloved parents Frank and Ruth Cole. Colin was a gentle kind soul, and made solid friendships. Among his two closest pals were Pete Snow and Lynn Arnott. The family wishes to thank Pete for his steadfast friendship.
