COLDWELL, Donald Laurence

July 13, 2017 – Calgary, AB

It is with great sorrow, that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Donald L. Coldwell on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the age of 85 years.

Donald was born in Readlyn, SK, September 22, 1931. January of 1951, Donald joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he proudly served in Canada and Europe as a Sergeant. In 1957, he met his beautiful wife of fifty-nine years, Noella Cossette, and they were married February 17, 1958. After completing his service in 1972, Don moved his wife and three children to Calgary, where he would later work at the Federated Coop for twenty-four years. He was an amazing, beautiful soul, embracing everyone with love, kindness, compassion and the gift for story-telling. Don was an active member of his communities, a helpful Mr. Fix it and made friends no matter where he was. In 2009, Donald was diagnosed with Cancer and fought a lengthy, strong battle, never giving up and with the greatest of spirit, even in his final days.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Noella Coldwell; daughter Mitzi Olsen; son Donald (Donny) Jr. Coldwell; and daughters, Roberta (Bobbi) Lynn Coldwell (Garret Head); grandchildren, Danielle (Mike) Slobodecki), Misty Coldwell, Dustin Coldwell (Kelsey Brazeau), Alexander Shvartsburd, Paige Olsen (David Howe) and Zachary Shvartsburd. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Edith Noess, Clarence Coldwell, Lloyd Coldwell, Les Coldwell, Evelyn Domes, and Christine Stasuik. Donald was predeceased by his parents, George and Hannah Coldwell.

A Celebration of Donald’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion (9202 Horton Road SW), on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
