CLOGG – Lorna Alexander (nee Forin)

May 20, 1930 – April 4, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Lorna A. Clogg on April 4, 2010 after a brief illness.

Born in Montreal on May 20, 1930, Lorna was a graduate of Montreal General Hospital School of Nursing. Mum and Dad had many happy years in Montreal, at the farm in Knowlton, spent three adventurous years in Kenya and then headed west to Calgary. In addition to being a devoted wife and raising her five children, Mum thrived on volunteerism and serving the communities she lived in. Some of the many organizations she was involved with include the Junior League and Centraide in Montreal, the Nairobi National Museum, and the Children’s Hospital Aid Society and the Samaritan Club in Calgary. Mum was a generous, giving, strong, optimistic and caring person. She made friends easily, putting young and old at ease. We admired her, learned from her and will truly miss her.

She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Dr. Donald Clogg. She was a wonderful mother to Karen (Dave) of Kitchener, Susan (Richard) of Calgary, Nancy (Bruce) of Victoria, Donald (Clara) of Montreal and L.J. (Rick) of Ottawa. She was the much loved ‘Do’ of Scott, Stephanie, Jill, Mark and Brian Hastings and Devon Viau and cherished Grandma of Stephen and Kim Price, Michael and Christine Clogg.

A celebration of Lorna’s life will be held on Saturday, April 10th from 2:00-4:00 pm at Alberta Children’s Hospital Theatre, 4th Floor, 2888 Shaganappi Trail N.W., Calgary, AB T3B 6A8, Telephone: (403) 955-8818. To the Clogg Family,

I was very sad to hear of the passing of your mother Lorna – that would be Mrs. Clogg to me. Your mum was an integral part of the fond memories I hold of the time I shared with your family while you were all in Montreal West. Despite my early years – or perhaps because of them – I was not the easiest kid to “have around” and I will always cherish your mum’s good humoured tolerance and forgiving nature as I made my modest way in the world. I’m sure she will be missed very deeply by all of those people whose lives she touched.

Please accept my family’s sincere condolences during this difficult time.

Take care of one and other.

I am very sad to learn of your Mother’s passing. I am also so glad she was not
ill for long. She would not have liked that. We were always friends but not really close. I will not be at her service at the hospital today because we are moving and things are hectic. Your mother would have loved to know the details. I hope your mother is with your dad. They were a great couple.

I have met you all before so you are all in my thoughts.

    Much love

    Lindy Stewart.

    To the Clogg Family
We were very sad to hear of your mother’s passing. I first met your mother about ten years ago when we volunteered at the Samaritan Club of Calgary Super Sale. She was a delight to work with in Men’s Wear – kind, considerate, a gentle person. There was always a warm smile for everyone. As we have just completed our Spring Sale I wanted you to know we miss her dearly.
Our condolences to all the family. We were lucky to have known such a lovely lady

I regret that I never had the privilege of making the acquaintance of the late Mrs. Clogg. But, I do recall her late husband, Dr. Clogg. He was my pediatric physician, when I lived in Montréal during the 1960’s. he had an practice and an small surgery, as I remember, on Ste. Catherine’s Street West. Above an «dépanneur,» if I recall. He was a good man. And an good physician and an good pediatrician.

    Sincerely Yours,
