Doris Clark beloved wife of Ronald (Ron) Clark of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at the age of 69 years, after a challenging nine and half year battle with cancer.
Doris was born on May 10, 1940 in Edinburgh, Scotland where she completed her High School education. She started work at the age of fifteen and worked as a secretary for the Edinburgh City Council and was involved in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo until she immigrated to Canada in 1964. Doris and Ron were married on September 1, 1962, which was the start of a memorable journey that lasted for the next forty-seven years. Their first stop in Canada was Kingston, ON, where Doris was secretary for four professors at Queen’s University. They finally settled in Calgary in September of 1966 where she started work as a secretary for Mannix Construction until 1968, afterwards staying at home to raise her daughter. Her passions were reading, crosswords and travelling. She was a past Matron of Friendship Chapter O.E.S and also a member of the R.C.L. Branch #285.
Besides her loving husband Ron, Doris is survived by her daughter Stacey-Lynn (Ryan) Mullaney; and two grandchildren, Siobhan and Breanna. She is also survived by her brother Derek (Janette) Curran of Scotland; sister-in-law Jean Curran of Calgary; nieces, Wendy Curran, Kyla Jones, both of Calgary, Lynsey Taylor and Louise Curran, both of England. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Peggy Curran and her younger brother Brian Curran.
A Celebration of Doris’ Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
